Jesus' Parting Words

Jesus' Parting Words

Monday, April 16                                         Luke 24: 13-34 , Mark 16: 12, 13
Who was this ‘stranger'? Why was he unrecognizable to them? What were the two men discussing? What key points did they bring up to share? How were they corrected (Luke verses 25-27)? When did they finally realize who He was? How? What did they do then? What do you do when you recognize Jesus in your life?

Tuesday, April 17                                       John 20:19-23
Where were the disciples? How did Jesus appear (19b) and what did He say first? Why were they scared and locked away? What did He show them to help prove it was really Him? By Whose power was He sending them out to do His further work in this world? What did He ‘breath' onto them? Who powers us to do the work He has given us to do?

Wednesday, April 18                                 John 21: 1-14 and 15-19
Who are the seven disciples here and what are they doing? Why do you think they had decided to return to their nets? How was their catch?
What did Jesus tell them to do? Why would they do what this "stranger" told them to do? How did Peter respond when John recognizes Jesus on the shore? Verses 15-19 capture reconciliation between Jesus and Peter. Why would Peter have felt disappointed in himself? Why did Jesus repeat the same question three times? What does Jesus mean when he says, "feed my sheep" ?

Thursday, April 19                                 Matthew 28:16-20 and Mark 16:15-18
The eleven remaining disciples met Jesus as he had instructed but this verse reveals the heart of some remained doubtful about the resurrection. What has been or is most hard for you to believe in the whole death and resurrection saga?
Who is it that can help with your unbelief? Whose authority is backing Jesus? Who will be the power and authority for these disciples as they go out to do ministry? What specifically does Jesus command that they do and what are they to teach? What is His final promise? Do you count on that promise in your life? Did you know it is a promise for you too?

Friday, April 20                          Luke 24:44-49
Jesus is referring to teachings he had done in the 40 days between His resurrection and this point in time-what does he say He had taught them? Verse 45 mentions a supernatural act-what is it? Has this ever happened to you when you were struggling with a certain passage or idea from Scripture? Why was it so important that these men be so equipped? Where were they to go and what were they to do? Verse 48 tells one of their important qualifying characteristics- what is it and why is it important in testifying? Again Jesus mentions this power that He was leaving them. Where has it been
Before and while Jesus walked the earth? Where is it now?
