Happy Thanksgiving
Monday, November 26 Psalm 100
What part of this psalm strikes you the most profoundly? Is it easy for you to give thanks to God as the Creator and author of all good things? Why or why not? How often do you find yourself actually giving heartfelt thanks?
What does the first line of verse 3 mean to you? How does that make the Lord worthy of our thanks and praise? Read verse 5. How has God proven faithful in your life? Spend some time giving thanks for specific times and places.
Tuesday, November 27 Colossians 2:6-7, 13-15
The first few verses of this passage give instructions. What are those instructions? What does it mean to "live in Him?" What do you think it means to be "overflowing with thankfulness?"
Read verses 13-15. What does this communicate about why we should be thankful? How can you more regularly get in touch with that facet of life and be thankful?
Wednesday, November 28 1 Peter 2:9
What does it mean to you to be "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God?" How do you respond to being described this way?
In the second half of that verse, it says that we have been "called out of darkness and into His wonderful light." What darkness has Jesus rescued you from in your life? How have you experienced His light? Spend some time today giving thanks for these things.
Thursday, November 29 1 John 3:1-3
What comes to mind when you consider being God's child? What are the emotions that define that parent/child relationship? How does that influence the way you view your relationship with God?
What does the rest of the verse promise? How is that cause for gratitude? What does it call us to do? How does that help with being grateful in life?
Friday, November 30 1 Chronicles 16:8-10
Spend some time today writing down what God has done specifically in your life. The instruction of this passage is to "make known among the nations what He has done." How can you bring that closer to home and "make known among your family" what God has done?
Can you commit to making it a practice every night to give thanks? What would keep you from doing so? How can you incorporate your family into this ritual? Why is this so important?
